Permission based Emails

What is Permission Email Marketing?

Permission based email marketing, is the professional management of email communication where all measures are taken to ensure all commercial electronic messages comply with the requirements under the Spam Act 2003. Importantly, permission based email marketing should include the following steps in order to be compliant — Consent, Indentify, Unsubscribe.

1) Consent

Requires that commercial electronic message be only sent if the recipient has provided consent. This may be in the form of a direct acceptance to receive email messages, also known as express consent. Another form of consent is inferred consent, which is based on business or other relationship with the contact and the manner of that business.

2) Indentify:

Requires that commercial electronic messages must clearly and accurately identify the information and contact details of the business responsible for sending the email communication.

3) Unsubscribe:

Addresses the requirement to include an unsubscribe option within all commercial email messages, allowing recipients to communicate the request to not receive any further email messages. All commercial electronic messages must have a functional unsubscribe option, with the request processed within 5 days after the recipient has unsubscribed.

By following these important steps to successful permission email marketing, businesses can build high quality and relevant email lists, communicating with their audience on a regular basis and enforce on a company brand and offering.
